Principal / Senior Electrical Engineer - France, Paris - Permanent Contract

This is your opportunity to work for a global data centre company that partners with the world’s largest technology firms to provide robust and sustainable operating infrastructure.

With significant investments secured, this data centre group is entering their next phase of growth and are looking to bring on board a Principal / Senior Electrical Engineer.

Responsibilities
  • Support in the management of the master planning of sitespre-acquisition, working closely with the site selection, leasing, and Development and Construction teams
  • Be part of a close-knit team, effectively supporting the full life cycle of projects, guiding the Senior Management around both internal and external resource management
  • Assist in managing consultant teams in their delivery, challenging the consultants to continually evolve and improve.
  • Support in contract review, negotiation, and execution, utilisingknowledge of varying Design and Construction contract forms.
  • Contribute towards the budget management across projects where an active project contributor. Review budgets and provide comments. Effectively track changes and cost risks, flagging to the Senior Management where risks exist, developing mitigation strategies.
  • Liaise worldwide with colleagues to ensure that best practice is uniform across all our developments, irrespective of geographic location.
  • Provide technical expertise in the design and installation of data centre electrical systems whilst ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Provide advice on the procurement process, reviewing returns and checking for compliance. Work with our contractors and vendors to ensure all construction work is best value for our end customers.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in Electrical or building services engineering and project management.
  • Proficiency with MS Office.
  • Proficiency in relevant design software and tools, such asAutoCAD,Revitetc.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and codes.
  • Solid understanding of energy efficiency best practices and sustainability principles as they relate to data centre infrastructure.
  • Proficiency with MS Project.
  • Critical thinker and problem solver.
  • Ability to support several projects simultaneously and effectively.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, consultants, and contractors.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interface directly with clients.
  • Willingness to travel locally, nationally, and internationally on a regular basis.
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment.

As an Electrical Colo Regional Engineer, you will drive Electrical Engineering services, construction and implementation of enterprise data centers, which meet quality and performance levels across the globe. You will work directly with our Design Engineering Stakeholders, Construction, Operations, and Commissioning teams regionally and globally. You will be leading projects to fit out the data centers we support to meet ever-evolving customer needs as we continue expanding our fleet to hyper-scale.
The Electrical Colo Regional Engineer is the engineering representative on behalf of the Data Center Colo Engineering Team responsible for the successful delivery of projects. In this role, you will assist in Data Center site selection, planning, development. You will evaluate different electrical systems and make a data driven decision about a suitable solution based on our guidelines.
Key job responsibilities
- Work with colo vendors to review the design for new Data Centers in your region, including design input, submittal review and incorporating AWS products to ensure the design is meeting AWS expectations.
- Act as resident engineer during new colo construction projects. Support construction, commissioning, and handover.
- Troubleshoot, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and create Corrective Action (CA) documentation for site/equipment failures.
- Directly support operational issues with ad-hoc training, complex operating procedure reviews, including essential equipment, and event support.
- Provide technical support to the design for existing data center upgrades and design-solutions, which add capacity, improve availability, and increase efficiency.
- Supporting operating partners to lead, review, and approve designs for existing co-location (colo) data center upgrades which improve availability/efficiency.
- Interface with operating partners, data center design engineering team, server hardware team, environmental health and safety team to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability in services delivered by operating partners.
- Work on concurrent projects, sometimes in multiple geographical regions.
- Initiate and lead engineering site audits within leased or colo data centers. Produce reports outlining risks with recommended mitigations and remediation's.
- Lead complex root cause analysis for equipment failures.
- Ability to develop solutions and execute plans on complex projects
A day in the life
Each day you will interact with different teams responsible for all aspects of the data centers. You will prioritize your activities to support data center capacity availability and safety focusing on the actions that are most impactful. You will have the opportunity to work on projects locally and globally.
This role will be assigned to an Amazon Building or Data Center but regularly requires visits to customer locations, or other non-Corporate Amazon sites. You will be expected to work from either an Amazon building, Data Center, or customer location, as needed per business requirements.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical engineering, or 7+ years of relevant Electrical engineering experience.
- Cumulative 9+ years of experience with industrial or commercial engineering.

Your expertise in containerization, observability, and deployment automation will be instrumental in evolving our Internal Developer Services, creating a technical ecosystem where our 70+ feature teams can seamlessly manage their infrastructure needs, automate quality gates, and reliably deploy production-ready code with minimal friction.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborating with Feature teams : You will work closely with our Feature teams, ensuring that the services align with the needs and requirements of our developers
  • Driving improvements : You will continuously evaluate new technologies and processes, striving for enhancements, and implementing them as necessary to optimize our development practices
  • Defining best practices : You will be responsible for defining best practices, known as "golden paths," for software development and deployment. This includes automation, testing, and security measures, in collaboration with our SREs, Security teams, and other domain experts
  • Developing and maintaining tools and services : You will create and maintain tools and services that facilitate the implementation of best practices. These resources will assist developers in building and deploying applications more efficiently

We are currently looking for a Senior Electrical Material Engineer F/M , reporting directly to the Head of the Electrical Material Department, to join our team in Paris (Nanterre, 92).

About your team:

Within the engineering division of Technip Energies' Paris office, you will be attached to the Electricity Department.

With 60 years' experience in energy project design, the division is made up of 600 people representing all the disciplines present on our installations (>20).

About the mission we are offering:

You will participate in the engineering and design of projects carried out by TEN France for the Group's various Business Lines, decarbonized solutions (Carbon capture, H2, Wind), LNG or biofuels. On these projects, most of which are export projects, you will interface with teams from other disciplines within Technip Energies (project management, procurement, construction) as well as our mainly international partners.

As a Senior Electrical Material Engineer F/M ,, you will work in multicultural electrical teams and will be responsible for defining, selecting and following up orders for complex electrical equipment such as high-voltage switchboards and transformers, high-power variable speed drives or electrical generation packages, and/or supervising the follow-up of simple electrical equipment (low-voltage switchboards, transformers, UPS, etc.).

Your main tasks on the project will be to:

  • Write or review specifications, data-sheets and requisitions for main electrical equipment and power generation packages (EDG, GTG, STG, etc.) in accordance with project specifications and network calculations
  • Draw up protection diagrams and standard control-command diagrams
  • Participate in the selection of the equipment best suited to project constraints (technology, schedule, cost, etc.).
  • Review and comment on supplier documentation, and ensure technical follow-up of equipment after order
  • Work with the purchasing department to monitor the schedule and cost impact of changes in equipment orders
  • Work with installation specialists to ensure that electrical equipment is correctly installed in the project design (location in rooms, connection possibilities.).
  • Provide assistance to the inspection department during the factory acceptance of systems (FAT)
  • Interface with the network manager

Your profile:

  • You have an engineering degree from a leading engineering school, either general or specializing in electrical engineering, and at least 10 years' experience in electrical engineering or design. Significant experience in a power generation plant, open distribution substation, high-power variable speed drive or experience in the operating or start-up phase would be a plus. Flexible, rigorous and dynamic, you are a team player who thrives on contact with different cultures, people and environments. You speak English and French fluently, and are mobile enough to travel in France and abroad. You are comfortable with basic office and IT tools, experience on ETAP or DIgSILENT would be a plus.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience (non-internship) in professional software development.
- Extensive experience in designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems.
- Programming experience with at least one software programming language- Java, Python, or TypeScript.
- Experience as a tech lead OR leading an engineering team.
- This role requires you to be a national of an EU member state.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Experience in prototyping quickly new systems and solutions
