We have immediate full time openings and are searching for new team members to join our Production Department in Portland as a Machine Operator & Material Handler. These are entry level opportunities that are supported by a team that will train you to perform in our unique environment.
What You Can Expect To Be Doing
- This position is "hands on" and the individual should have a self-starter mindset.
- Setting up the equipment for production following the schedule to fulfill our customer orders.
- The majority of your shift will involve operating large equipment such as shredders and grinders.
- Manually load and unload product into and out of equipment.
- Material Handlers are regularly on their feet, monitoring, adjusting and attentively aware of the equipment they are operating.
- Forklifts are used to transfer material within the production floor - please note this is not a forklift position.
- Responsible for executing all safety protocols - safety is critical to everyone's success.
- Our successful candidates are self-starters who are willing to learn!
- Have a strong work ethic - dependable and demonstrate good attendance
- Able to work a 12-hour shift (7 pm to 7 am OR 7 am to 7 pm)
- Our work schedule rotates every 2 weeks: 36 hours one week & 48 hours second week (schedule includes every other weekend)
- Able to meet the physical qualifications for this position which include:
- Lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
- Standing for an extended period of time
- Lift, throw, bend, squat, twist, and reach
- Working in both hot and cold conditions
- Must be 18 years or older and eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship
- Need to be able to read, write and understand English
- Basic computer knowledge is a plus
- Previous manufacturing experience is a plus, but not necessary
- Mechanically inclined with an attention to detail
- Lastly, have a positive attitude and be willing to assist others when needed.
- Starting rate of up to $20.50 an hour (incl. overtime and shift differential)

- Effective communication and teamwork skills to support production staff and maintenance personnel.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining cleanliness and organization of work areas.
