Description De L'emploi

About Marble

Marble is a climate tech venture studio. We partner withscientists, engineers, and operators to create companies solving hard climate problems in the world's largest industries.

Our first 10companies are building transformative products across energy, industry, agriculture, and climate resilience. 100% have been successful in raising follow-on to date. We are looking to partner with exceptional individuals to create our next venture.

Unlocking Geothermal and Waste Heat to Power

Global electricity demand is due to triple by 2050 as electrification and living standards grow. Already today, the world is facing the strongest load growth since the mid-20th century. While wind and solar continue to scale rapidly, intermittent renewables alone cannot meet the capacity and reliability needs of this rising demand. Clean, firm resources are also required.

Geothermal and waste heat are sources of clean, firm electricity that are abundant and often located near demand, but remain largely untapped today relative to their potential. Their deployment is limited due to the low conversion efficiency of low-temperature heat as well as the traditional power plants in use today: custom-built, with high upfront costs, and long lead times.

In other words, the bottleneck to scaling these clean, firm power sources isn't just about accessing low-carbon heat - but also how we convert this heat into power.

By rethinking power plant design and cost structure from the ground up, we believe that we can unlock a new generation of power plants from lower temperature sources. By drastically reducing capital costs, simplifying designs, and boosting efficiency, we can deploy fast, cheap, clean firm power almost anywhere - while enhancing grid stability and increasing energy security.

We are exploring novel approaches to deploy next-generation power plants to accelerate the uptake of geothermal and waste heat for clean power generation.

The Opportunity

We’re particularly interested in innovations that drive down upfront costs - such as reducing turbine and balance-of-plant expenses, or shortening construction timelines— to enable the deployment of next-generation geothermal and waste heat recovery.

That said, we’re equally excited by bold, creative approaches that rethink what a power plant can be - from modular architectures to new thermodynamic cycles.

Opportunities we are considering to boost plant performance:

  • High-efficiency thermal cycles: to improve conversion efficiency and reduce costs by innovating in turbines, working fluids, and thermodynamic cycles tailored to low- and mid-enthalpy heat sources (eg. Organic Rankine Cycles and sCO2).
  • Optimised balance-of-plant systems : to minimise parasitic loads, reduce system complexity, and improve thermal-to-electric conversion efficiency by streamlining auxiliary systems—heat exchangers, pumps, cooling systems, and controls.
  • Digital twins and AI-driven plant optimisation: to improve performance, reliability, and equipment lifetimes through high-resolution sensing, real-time digital twins, and machine learning models for predictive maintenance, smarter dispatch, and dynamic control.

Opportunities to accelerate deployment and reduce complexity:

  • Accelerated construction and commissioning: to reduce time-to-power and installation complexity with on-site assembly, standardised units and designs, digital simulation tools, and integrated project delivery models.
  • Modular and prefabricated components: to facilitate project execution and lower capital costs by delivering modular, replicable units - such as turbines, balance-of-plant equipment, control rooms, that can be rapidly deployed across sites.

We are looking for a Founder in Residence to join Marble and explore modern power plant approaches for lower-temperature applications and accelerate the deployment of these clean, firm, and widely available energy sources.

Skills & Profile

We are looking for an entrepreneurial engineer with relevant technical expertise and/or industry experience in the power sector, or related fields, with a creative take on the problem. Your mission: to further explore some of the opportunities outlined above and create a high-impact climate company with Marble.

You may come from the power sector directly, or from an adjacent field where your technical background and experience can bring a fresh perspective on how to redesign and scale the modern power plant.

Examples of relevant backgrounds:

  • Mechanical engineering / turbomachinery with hands-on experience in designing, modelling, or deploying turbines, power cycles, thermal cycles (e.g. ORC and sCO2), and working fluid selection - particularly in the context of low- to mid-temperature applications.
  • Chemical / mechanical / process engineering with a background in designing, modelling, or deploying thermal systems, heat recovery systems, systems integration, and balance-of-plant infrastructure - including pumps, heat exchangers, cooling systems, and piping networks.
  • Modelling / control / software engineering with expertise in power plant instrumentation, thermal modelling, simulation, digital twins, or control systems. Ideal for predictive maintenance tools, operational optimisation, and AI-driven plant control.
  • Construction / modular infrastructure / prefabrication with a background in industrial design, civil engineering, or modular systems development and deployment. Relevant to accelerate build times and reduce project complexity through innovative plant construction methods.

We encourage you to apply even if you don’t feel you meet all requirements. Above all, we value intelligence, creativity and Founder Potential.

Especially if you recognise yourself below:

  • You can’t wait to start your own company (or your next one)
  • You are a pragmatic optimist on a mission to tackle climate change
  • You are outcome focused and action oriented - you make things happen
  • You are a great communicator - you can convince others to follow you
  • You love to break down ambitious goals into actionable milestones
  • You understand that innovation starts with people - not ideas

Description De L'emploi

About Marble

Marble is a climate tech venture studio. Our north star is to erase billions of tons from annual greenhouse gas emissions and create a thriving future. We partner with scientists, engineers and operators to create new deep tech companies that solve hard climate problems — slash emissions, remove carbon from the atmosphere, and cool the planet — while reshaping multi-billion $ industries. We're proud to be backed by leading climate investors across Europe and the US.

Unlocking Geothermal Heat

Heat makes up over 50% of global final energy consumption annually, far surpassing electricity, but remains one of the hardest segments of the energy system to decarbonise — accounting for nearly 14 gigatonnes of CO₂ emissions annually.

Despite the scale of the problem, only ~15% of global heat supply today comes from renewable sources. Against this backdrop, geothermal heat stands out as a clean, firm, and flexible heat source not influenced by fuel price volatility, and the ability to operate continuously, independent of weather or time of day.

Geothermal is particularly well-suited to decarbonise low (<100°C) and medium (100–200°C) temperature applications, which represents ~50% of all heat demand. Why? There’s enough geothermal energy available at depths below 3 km and temperatures up to 200°C to exceed global demand by a factor of 1,000.

Three major end-use cases seem large enough to justify capital investment and subsurface de-risking:

  • Building-scale heating and cooling: for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings, including space heating, cooling, and domestic hot water.
  • District heating networks: centralised systems distributing heat to multiple buildings or neighbourhoods, complexes, or industrial parks.
  • Industrial process heat (up to 200°C): supplying clean thermal energy for light processes in food and beverage, textiles, chemicals, and other industries.

Beyond its climate benefits, geothermal heat enhances energy security, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and insulating consumers from global fuel price shocks. Unlike fully electrified solutions, it also helps alleviate grid congestion and slows the growth of peak electricity demand.

And yet, we’ve barely scratched the surface. Despite its long history, geothermal heat demand amounts to only ~1.1 EJ, less than 0.5% of the heat consumed annually today. Very few companies have reached meaningful scale today, as projects are often hindered by high upfront costs, suboptimal drilling techniques, long permitting and installation times, and resource development risk, impeding widespread adoption.

The Opportunity

We are interested in a broad range of opportunities to leverage untapped geothermal heat potential with compelling economics.

We are particularly interested in approaches which derisk project development, reduce drilling times, and bring down the upfront cost of geothermal projects that can be applied to broad geographies, especially in Europe and the US.

However, we're also open to creative approaches which could bring next-gen geothermal heat to meaningful scale.

Examples of opportunities we are considering:

  • Improved well characterisation and planning to de-risk the exploration phase by developing pre-drilling techniques, refining modelling techniques, and improving site identification and characterisation.
  • Accelerated drilling and installation to reduce upfront costs, drilling times, and installation complexity through novel drilling techniques and improved well completion methods.
  • Efficient heat delivery systems to maximise heat recovery and optimise well sizing through innovations in transfer fluids, heat exchangers, and systems integration.
  • High-temperature geothermal for industry to reach temperatures potentially beyond 200°C needed for industrial processes through advanced materials, novel working fluids, and hybrid systems (e.g. geothermal + heat pumps).
  • Enhanced well monitoring and modelling to support maintenance, reduce downtime, and prolong well lifespan through real-time thermal monitoring and digital twin-based performance models.
  • Integrated thermal management systems to optimise heat delivery by combining sensors, controls, and predictive software to dynamically respond to real-time demand, load forecasts, and network feedback. Ideal for centralised and district heating networks.
  • Integrated geothermal heat with storage to maintain well stability and minimise operational costs by integrating thermal storage solutions in regions with imbalanced heating/cooling demands and variable electricity pricing.

We are looking for a Founder in Residence to join Marble and explore these approaches further and accelerate the geothermal renaissance for energy abundance.

Unlocking Geothermal Power

Global power demand is due to triple by 2050 as electrification and living standards grow. Electrification is paramount to decarbonise buildings, transportation and industry. Meanwhile, hyper scale data centres are driving massive 24x7 power demand surges with extreme geographical concentration.

Although solar and wind will remain the cheapest form of clean electricity, induced system costs mean that utilities and their customers urgently need clean firm resources.

Geothermal energy, available 24/7, is a prime candidate: just 0.1% of the Earth’s heat content could meet global energy needs for over 2 million years. It also has the lowest land use and mineral requirement of any renewable resource, tends to be viewed more favourably than nuclear in sensible jurisdictions, and could potentially scale globally with oil & gas workforce.

Problem: conventional geothermal is only viable in areas with optimal heat and fluid flow conditions. Projects outside of these areas have been plagued by high upfront costs and resource development risk.

Despite being a century old, geothermal power only has 16 GW of installed capacity, less than 0.2% of electricity generation assets worldwide.

We are exploring novel ideas to unlock the geothermal power renaissance, improve economics and reduce failure rate, to meet >10% of global power demand.

The Opportunity

We are interested in two broad strategies to scale next-gen geothermal systems in a broad range of geographies, depths and temperatures.

First, novel approaches in enhanced (EGS) and closed loop (AGS) geothermal, which can further de-risk project development, bring down upfront costs and increase performance.

Second, technologies that could unlock Super Hot Rock (SHR) resources in the 5-10 km range with temperatures above 375°C. These resources could generate 5-10x more MW per well, but remain challenging to operate in due to extreme heat, temperature swings, corrosive water chemistry, brittle hard rocks, long drill paths, mechanical stress, and other operational constraints.

Examples of opportunities we are considering:

  • EGS innovations to improve reservoir creation, stimulation, and management to prolong resource lifetime while mitigating common issues with water consumption, corrosion, induced seismicity, etc
  • AGS innovations to maximise heat transfer and slash drilling requirements for closed loop system, for instance through innovations in materials and working fluids.
  • Well completion , to overcome the casing and cementing failures that occur in super deep conditions. We are interested in creative ways to deploy materials and structures that overcome inefficiencies of conventional completion methods.
  • Well characterisation and planning to de-risk exploration with pre-drilling techniques, improved modelling, data acquisition, AI, and other site identification and characterisation techniques.
  • Drilling methods to increase penetration rate, reduce costs and down time, and overcome the challenges with digging in SHR conditions, but also for EGS and AGS.
  • Surface equipment to bring down their costs, which still represent a major share of a project’s CAPEX, through cheaper and modular power plants and/or advancements in turbines, heat exchangers, condensers, waste heat management, etc.
  • Tech enabled project development to reduce the costs of site selection, drilling and completion with data, AI, and standardised equipment.

We are looking for Founder in Residences to join our next cohort, to explore these approaches further and accelerate the geothermal renaissance for energy abundance.

Description De L'emploi

About Marble

Marble is a climate tech venture studio. We partner with scientists, engineers and operators to create companies solving hard climate problems in the world's largest industries.

Our first 10 companies are building transformative products across energy, industry, agriculture and climate resilience. 100% have been successful in raising follow on to date. We are looking to partner with exceptional individuals to create our next venture.

Scaling Climate Tech With Robotics

The clean industrial transition means the world need to deploy 5-10x more physical assets within the next two decades. Yet, we're running out of skilled workforce to build and service them.

Across industries, labor bottlenecks are acute. O&M roles face up to 50% turnover globally, with millions of skilled jobs unfilled. Critical tasks are increasingly expensive and hard to staff, such as thermal retrofits, renewables and grid deployment, industrial machinery operations, or inspections in hazardous environment.

Compounding factors include stagnant productivity, aging populations, limits on immigration, and the security imperative for domestic supply chains.

Enter robotics. Rapid advancements in autonomy, multi-modal sensing and rugged hardware could let robots operate 24/7 outdoors, slash build times and service costs, enhance safety, and capture new data in a way that humans cannot.

We're exploring new ideas for the coming robotics wave to deliver the climate tech infrastructure in a way that's better, faster, cheaper, and safer.

The Opportunity

We’re excited about use cases where robotics can unlock speed and scale in the deployment phase of critical climate industries, such as energy, utilities, logistics, manufacturing, construction, agriculture, mining and climate resilience.

In particular, we're interested in sectors where there is an acute labor shortage, where work is either dangerous or difficult to perform, and where robots could provide fast and consistent value to customers, with a capex payback within 18 months.

Approaches we're considering include:

  • Specialized robotics. Robots optimized for industry verticals, which leverage mature technical stacks and falling hardware costs. The range of applications is vast, e.g. infrastructure deployment, inspection, maintenance, transport, manufacturing …
  • Enabling hardware systems. Frontier robotic technologies which allow for novel use cases with high climate upside. Examples include new sensors, actuators, soft robotics, morphological computing, new materials, robotic assembly, and more.
  • Physical intelligence . New AI systems for operating in chaotic outdoors environment. This includes embodied AI and edge inference (e.g. low-latency controls), better sim-to-real feedback loops, physics-based and domain-specific models, etc.

From a product and business model perspective, we're considering three approaches:

  • Hardware as a service , leasing robots or parts as OPEX with maintenance
  • Outcome based contracts , e.g. paying per MW installed, hectare planted, etc
  • Vertical integrators / developers with robotics in the backend
Skills & Profile

We're looking for a technical founder who’s obsessed with going on the terrain, thrives in fast iteration and has an evident founder <> problem fit. You don’t need to come from “robotics” per se. But you should have a deep understanding of systems where automation has a right-to-win.

Examples of relevant profiles:

  • Robotics engineer, ideally with experience deploying robots in the field, e.g. energy, construction, manufacturing, mining, logistics, maritime, agriculture, etc
  • Robotics researcher , with an expertise in autonomy, perception or embedded systems, looking to build and deploy in the real world.
  • Startup founder / operator / investor with exposure to robotics, climate tech, and/or passionate about specific industry verticals

We encourage you to apply even if you don’t feel you meet all requirements. Above all, we value intelligence, creativity and Founder Potential.

Entrepreneur in Residence (EIR), Growth Operations

Elisa

Publié il y a 7 jours

Emploi consulté

Description De L'emploi

Etsimme nyt Entrepreneur in Residence (EIR) -rooliin henkilöä B2B Growth Operations -tiimiimme.

Tärkeintä on kykysi saada asioita aikaan. Kasvun tuottaminen on osa ajattelutapaasi.

Tarjoamme Sinulle

  • Vapauden työskennellä tavalla, jonka uskot tuottavan tuloksia.
Tutustu Elisalasten uratarinoihin.

Oletko valmis rakentamaan jotain uutta?

Jos sinulla herää kysyttävää, Growth Director Jouni Petrow kertoo mielellään lisää (jouni.petrow(a)elisa.fi), +358 5050 65469. #J-18808-Ljbffr

Co-Founder in Residence, CEO, Anaerobic Digestion

Marble

Description De L'emploi

About Marble Marble is a climate tech venture studio. We partner withscientists, engineers, and operators to create companies solving hard climate problems in the world's largest industries. Our first 10companies are building transformative products across energy, industry, agriculture, and climate resilience. 100% have been successful in raising follow-on to date. We are looking to partner with exceptional individuals to create our next venture.Unlocking Cheap, Abundant Biogas Anaerobic digestion is a powerful tool to convert organic waste into energy - but today it’s too expensive to unlock the massive potential benefits of renewable methane.Methane production depends on a delicate microbial partnership: microbes break down waste into fatty acids; microbes called syntrophs then break these down hydrogen and acetate, which methanogens convert to methane. However, this chain falls apart under stress. In an unhealthy ecosystem methane production slows, fatty acids build up and the entire ecosystem collapses as methanogens die off. This means that many waste streams can’t be used at all. High salt, acidity, or ammonia levels inhibit methanogenic microbes, limiting feedstock availability. Digestion rates also have to be kept slow to avoid overloading the capacity of the ecoystem. Overall, this means that operators are forced to use rare, energy-rich waste in massive, expensive facilities - keeping prices high.Even when digestion works, low methane content (~60%) drives up the cost of upgrading biogas to renewable natural gas, with purification tech like membranes adding significant CAPEX and OPEX.The result: AD systems cost ~$5,000/kW to build, produce gas at 2-4x the cost of fossil alternatives, and remain dependent on subsidies or niche feedstocks. Many small or low-energy waste streams remain stranded. The Opportunity We have developed a fermentation platform to produce redox-active supplements able to modify the AD ecosystem. These can be used as consumables, without the need for any additional CAPEX.These additives can increase digestion rates 2-3x, driving a 40-60% capex reduction. Optimised ecosystem dynamics also allow additives to boost methane yields by up to 20%. This means much higher biogas yield and methane content, unlocking cost parity with natural gas - even before accounting for feed-in-tariffs.Tailored supplements can be adapted for any AD ecosystem, unlocking feedstocks that cannot be economically processed today. Our unique production platform also allows us to use directed evolution and AI-driven enzyme design to continuously optimise and invent new supplements. Our vision is to transform the biogas and biomethane industry, adding 21BCM of production by 2030 in Europe alone, leveraging both retrofits of existing assets and expansion of AD infrastructure. We’ve locked down our core scientific and technical thesis, identified target compounds with their production routes and have a comprehensive roadmap for scale up.You will join a stellar CSO with deep experience across fermentation, metabolic engineering and industrial biotechnology. Having worked on engineering CO2 fermentation in new microbes at Imperial College London and the Max Planck Institute in Berlin, our CSO came to Marble to explore new ways to apply biochemistry to the climate crisis. We are looking for a CEO and Co-Founder. Your role will be broad, across product, sales, partnerships, strategy, operations, fundraising (venture capital and non-dilutive), team building, supplier management, regulatory and stakeholder engagement.Requirements We are looking for an entrepreneurial individual with a passion for bioenergy and a driving motivation to create a massive company to mitigate climate change.Must have: demonstrated experience/potential in CEO type responsibilities (see above) and the commercialisation of novel technologies, with strong interest for biogas and biomethane related industries such as agriculture, wastewater, municipal solid waste, RNG, etc.The ideal candidate will have direct experience in in anaerobic digestion, fermentation, infrastructure project development, and/or scaling science based companies. We’re primarily looking for someone in France, Germany, or the Nordics. Example of relevant backgrounds:
  • Startup founder / operator / investor - bioenergy, biotech, agtech, climate tech
  • Biogas or bioRNG industry specialists - with experience in project development in the anaerobic digestion and biomethane space
  • Industrial biotech specialists - with experience commercialising fermentation-based chemicals production, or other synbio systems
We encourage you to apply even if you don’t feel you meet all requirements. Above all, we value intelligence, creativity and Founder Potential.Especially if you recognise yourself below:
  • You can’t wait to start your own company (or your next one)
  • You are a pragmatic optimist on a mission to tackle climate change
  • You are outcome focused and action oriented - you make things happen
  • You are a great communicator - you can convince others to follow you
  • You love to break down ambitious goals into actionable milestones
  • You understand that innovation starts with people - not ideas
What We Offer As Co-Founder and CEO you will partner with a Marble Founder in Residence who has been developing this project and will take the CSO role. You will of course have the opportunity to meet and work with him before making any big commitments! We offer (among other things)
  • A €3,000 monthly allowance during your participation in the programme
  • A €250,000 pre-seed investment on startup creation , if you are successful. You and your team will own 80% of the company at incorporation.
  • Full-stack support in our venture creation programme

  • Seed Fundraising support after the programme. Introductions to the best seed investors and help with term sheet negotiation.
