The Cannes site is responsible for the design of satellite systems and platforms, satellite assembly/integration/testing, and in-orbit operations. The site has expertise in optical instrumentation and avionics.
The field is that of Optical Payloads on board satellites for high-resolution Earth observation, weather imaging, climate monitoring, geography, scientific missions, etc.
- You will join the Detection team of the On-board Image Chain service, made up of around thirty engineers.
- As an Image Chain Expert, with at least 15 years of experience, you will bring to the department your technical knowledge of optronic systems for space, image sensors and video electronics, as well as your ability to manage the development of complex image chains.
- The activities will be carried out within the framework of studies, responses to calls for tender and phases A/B/C/D of different programs.
- You will be responsible for the development of image chains for an optical payload, including image sensors and associated video electronics, integrated into a larger system and interfacing with the on-board processing unit.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing the development of a complex image chain for a spatial application,
- Technical expertise and performance management of the image chain,
- Non-hierarchical management of a multidisciplinary technical team

Your Profile
- You hold a Master 2 (BAC +5) from an engineering school or a university course in computer science.
- A minimum of 15 years’ experience in the field of optronics, image chains or detection is required.
- The following experiences will be appreciated:
- – Achievements for space missions and knowledge of standards and processes
- – Management of multidisciplinary teams
- You know the image channels with a wide technical spectrum:
- – Visible and infrared image sensor and camera technologies
- – Digital and analog electronics of a picture chain.
- You have the leadership to understand the development of complex products
- You know the Space ecosystem, its players, its bodies, its manufacturers in the field of image chains, and you are a driving force in sharing your vision of the future and enriching the service’s roadmap.
- You have a professional level of English, you can interact both in writing and orally.

- Knowledge of optics and edge processing is a plus.

The Cannes site is responsible for the design of satellite systems and platforms, satellite assembly/integration/testing, and in-orbit operations. The site has expertise in optical instrumentation and avionics.
Our activities are dedicated to observation missions (meteorology, civil and military observation) and scientific missions (Earth and universe observation). Within the Space Segment Engineering department, the Mechanical, Thermal and Optical Architecture department has, among others, the following main objectives:
- optical design and performance simulation/prediction
- specification of subsystems and monitoring of their development
- evaluation of the optical performances carried out
The team is made up of around 37 engineers, including 10 opticians.
Within the Mechanical, Thermal and Optical Architecture department, the optical analysis engineer will be able to work in tandem with the optical architect on all types of optical instruments (High Resolution Imager, Sounder, Multi or Hyper-spectral Radiometer, etc.), covering the entire field from UV to thermal IR and ranging from R&T phases to the development of flight instruments.
The main activities and responsibilities are as follows:
- support for the design of optical systems
- tolerancing analyses, SOL/VOL performance evaluation. This may include analyses of resolution, dispersion, aberrations, optical transmission, stray light etc. The objective is to ensure that the optical system will be able to deliver the required performance.
- support for drafting optical equipment specifications
- support for integration and testing teams
The optical analysis engineer will be required to work in the upstream phases (R&D, Studies, Phases 0, A, B1, B2) and the production phases (phases C/D).
Your ProfileEngineer training or university training BAC + 5 in optics.
- You are comfortable with the following technical environment: Optical simulation (Code V, Zemax, etc.).
- You have the ability to solve problems through strong and effective collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams. You are sufficiently rigorous and adaptable to minimize the risks imposed by the space sector.
- You have significant experience of at least 7 years in the field of Optics and ideally Space Observation.
You have:
- general knowledge of optical architectures of space optical instruments
- current use of optical design/simulation tools: CODE V, Zemax, MATLAB/PYTHON
- knowledge of sources and models of stray light and ways of limiting it, in particular by playing on the opto-mechanical concept. Knowledge of simulation tools desired (FRED, Lighttools, ASAP)
The candidate must be autonomous, rigorous and motivated to work within a multidisciplinary team (optics, techno, optronics, mechanics, thermal, cleaning, AIT, etc.).

Within the AIT Optical Payloads department and the Mechanical Assembly, Control and Clean Rooms Department, the missions of the AITCUO Controller (=QC) are, under Quality Assurance, to:
- Establish and write quality control plans and program control procedures (MQ)
- Carry out the Control procedures on the integration site in Clean Rooms (ISO8 & ISO5)
- Ensure the smooth running of integration activities by operators working on flight equipment
- Carry out inspections and measurements of all phases of integration of subsystems or systems in business procedures or ACRs indicated by QC points as well as filling in traceability files in real time
- Carry out Control inspections and recording in SAP of the PECT of the Program arriving from our external industrial partners.
The position requires Electrical, Working at Height, Bridge, Chemical Products qualifications.
Your Profile
- You have at least 2 years of experience in the field of Quality and/or Quality Control
- Strong Quality Culture

Ideally you
- You have knowledge of mechanical assembly / gluing and/or wiring
- You know how to read a plan and/or manipulate a 3D plan
