Overview
This CISO role is for a global cybersecurity leader with a passion for Linux and open source to help define the way Canonical secures its corporate infrastructure, designs its products and assures regulatory compliance. This role will be responsible for the end to end definition and implementation of the cybersecurity and compliance program. They will continue to build a world-leading team of cybersecurity professionals currently in excess of 30 people and work to define and implement process and technical security controls. It is important for the CISO to work closely with the business, infrastructure, product and engineering teams to define and meet cybersecurity and compliance targets. It reports to the CFO.
Key responsibilities- Define a cybersecurity strategy and operating model that is aligned with our business objectives
- Develop and track a clear, measurable cybersecurity plan
- Assume responsibility for Canonical's information security and compliance program
- Build, develop and lead a high performing cybersecurity and compliance team
- Advise business and engineering leadership in the implementation of cybersecurity and compliance
- Present regular reports to Canonical executives and our Board of Directors
- Integrate an information and cyber security risk management framework
- Define and deliver a cybersecurity culture and awareness program for employees and partners
- Define and implement an information assurance framework, ensuring regulatory compliance
- Monitor and respond to security and privacy incidents

- A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field; MBA preferred
- Substantial experience in risk management, information security, or incident response
- Experience implementing a cybersecurity and compliance program in an engineering organization
- Experience building and leading a cross functional cybersecurity and compliance team
- Proven ability to define, implement and measure effective incident response playbooks and a cybersecurity culture program
- Knowledge of information security management frameworks, such as ISO/IEC 27001 and NIST
- Knowledge of international privacy laws and financial reporting requirements
- Understanding of current legislation and regulations relevant to our organization

- Identify market risks, recommend mitigation options, and document findings in clear, business-friendly language while staying updated on emerging technologies and industry trends to assess their impact on the business.
- Assist in developing and executing information security operations that are not covered by shared services and support the development of an assurance framework for consistency.
- Aid in the reporting process of information security and implement a coordinated response to security audit and compliance issues.
- Ensure that policies and action plans are executed according to the Group Security Strategy.
- Lead and manage a team of security assurance experts effectively, fostering collaboration and accountability within the team.
- Provide ongoing support to the CSO and stakeholders to enhance security measures and drive continuous improvement in security practices across the organization.
- A degree in information security, computer science, information management systems, or a related field.
- A post-graduate degree in security or general management (e.g., MBA) is advantageous but not essential.
- Strongly preferred: Information security industry certifications (CISSP, CISA, CRISC, CISM, ISO 27001 Lead Auditor, GIAC, or equivalent).
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in security, IT audit, or a related area.
- Over 7 years of leadership/management experience.
- Experience in managing a remote/international team.
- Prior experience as interim or acting Chief Information Security Officer or Head of Information Security.
- Ability to navigate a decentralized corporate environment.
- Strong networking and interpersonal skills, including assertiveness and active listening.
- A collaborative team player with the ability to understand complex business scenarios.
- Fluency in English is required.

Let’s talk about our Security TeamOur cybersecurity team is backed by an ISO27001-certified policy framework. We maintain structured pentesting cycles and a standardized incident management process. A skilled security engineer supports day-to-day operations and we have access to cross-functional partners across IT, DevOps and Delivery teams. What will I be doing?Develop and implement comprehensive risk management processes aligned with Kbrw objectives.
Create, update, and enforce cybersecurity policies in compliance with ISO27001, NIS2, SOC2.
Respond to security-related RFPs and collaborate on contractual and technical proposals.
Monitor security metrics, SOC operations, and emerging threats for proactive defense.
Manage vulnerability assessments and pentests, coordinating remediation across infrastructure and applications.
Define technical security requirements and support to ensure secure product and projects delivery.

3+ years leading security teams

- Collaborer avec le département de la gouvernance de la sécurité pour définir le cadre des risques liés à la cybersécurité et la taxonomie des menaces.

Stakeholder Communication & Reporting

Education
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field.

Experience
