Overview

This CISO role is for a global cybersecurity leader with a passion for Linux and open source to help define the way Canonical secures its corporate infrastructure, designs its products and assures regulatory compliance. This role will be responsible for the end to end definition and implementation of the cybersecurity and compliance program. They will continue to build a world-leading team of cybersecurity professionals currently in excess of 30 people and work to define and implement process and technical security controls. It is important for the CISO to work closely with the business, infrastructure, product and engineering teams to define and meet cybersecurity and compliance targets. It reports to the CFO.

Key responsibilities
  • Define a cybersecurity strategy and operating model that is aligned with our business objectives
  • Develop and track a clear, measurable cybersecurity plan
  • Assume responsibility for Canonical's information security and compliance program
  • Build, develop and lead a high performing cybersecurity and compliance team
  • Advise business and engineering leadership in the implementation of cybersecurity and compliance
  • Present regular reports to Canonical executives and our Board of Directors
  • Integrate an information and cyber security risk management framework
  • Define and deliver a cybersecurity culture and awareness program for employees and partners
  • Define and implement an information assurance framework, ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Monitor and respond to security and privacy incidents
  • Lead the implementation of a secure system development life-cycle
Valued skills and experience
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field; MBA preferred
  • Substantial experience in risk management, information security, or incident response
  • Experience implementing a cybersecurity and compliance program in an engineering organization
  • Experience building and leading a cross functional cybersecurity and compliance team
  • Proven ability to define, implement and measure effective incident response playbooks and a cybersecurity culture program
  • Knowledge of information security management frameworks, such as ISO/IEC 27001 and NIST
  • Knowledge of international privacy laws and financial reporting requirements
  • Understanding of current legislation and regulations relevant to our organization

We’re looking for our Global Head of Information Security (CISO), who possesses information security expertise. In this role, you will support in overseeing security activities, deploying strategic requirements, and defining the Group security strategy. What You’ll Be Doing
  • Support the Chief Security Officer (CSO) in providing governance and oversight for all information security activities within the designated market and assist in deploying strategic requirements to define the AXA Group security strategy and framework, leveraging best practices to enhance security maturity.
  • Facilitate security target-setting for your entities, monitor their achievement, and develop a consistent approach to information security topics within your scope.
  • Act as the CSO's delegate on transversal topics to ensure governance of all information security activities and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure security measures within AXA Partners (AP) entities are relevant and cost-effective.
  • Serve as an expert advisor on implementing and maintaining information security controls, and support the execution of security strategies, policies, and action plans aligned with the Group Security Strategy.
  • Identify market risks, recommend mitigation options, and document findings in clear, business-friendly language while staying updated on emerging technologies and industry trends to assess their impact on the business.
  • Assist in developing and executing information security operations that are not covered by shared services and support the development of an assurance framework for consistency.
  • Aid in the reporting process of information security and implement a coordinated response to security audit and compliance issues.
  • Ensure that policies and action plans are executed according to the Group Security Strategy.
  • Lead and manage a team of security assurance experts effectively, fostering collaboration and accountability within the team.
  • Provide ongoing support to the CSO and stakeholders to enhance security measures and drive continuous improvement in security practices across the organization.
What You’ll Bring
  • A degree in information security, computer science, information management systems, or a related field.
  • A post-graduate degree in security or general management (e.g., MBA) is advantageous but not essential.
  • Strongly preferred: Information security industry certifications (CISSP, CISA, CRISC, CISM, ISO 27001 Lead Auditor, GIAC, or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in security, IT audit, or a related area.
  • Over 7 years of leadership/management experience.
  • Experience in managing a remote/international team.
  • Prior experience as interim or acting Chief Information Security Officer or Head of Information Security.
  • Ability to navigate a decentralized corporate environment.
  • Strong networking and interpersonal skills, including assertiveness and active listening.
  • A collaborative team player with the ability to understand complex business scenarios.
  • Fluency in English is required.

What will I be doing?
  • Develop and implement comprehensive risk management processes aligned with Kbrw objectives.

  • Create, update, and enforce cybersecurity policies in compliance with ISO27001, NIS2, SOC2.

  • Respond to security-related RFPs and collaborate on contractual and technical proposals.

  • Monitor security metrics, SOC operations, and emerging threats for proactive defense.

This executive position will also be responsible for coordinating the certification and compliance efforts of the company's subsidiaries , ensuring alignment with group-wide cybersecurity standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Cybersecurity Strategy & Governance

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy aligned with business objectives and risk appetite.
  • Maintain the Information Security Management System (ISMS) for the group.
  • Establish policies, standards, and frameworks to continuously improve the company’s security posture .

Risk Management & Asset Protection

  • Identify, evaluate, and mitigate cybersecurity risks across the organization and its subsidiaries.
  • Conduct regular security risk assessments and penetration testing to protect systems and data.
  • Lead efforts to secure critical infrastructure, proprietary data, and operational technologies

Subsidiary Certification & Alignment

  • Coordinate and oversee the cybersecurity certification processes (e.g., ISO 27001, NIS2, DORA ) across all subsidiaries.
  • Support local Managers to ensure harmonization of security standards across the group.
  • Monitor subsidiary compliance with group policies, legal and regulatory frameworks.

Incident Response & Threat Management

  • Build and lead a Security Operations Center (SOC) and incident response team.
  • Build and lead a Vulnerability Operations Center ( VOC)
  • Drive Cyber Crisis Simulation Exercise
  • Develop and execute incident response plans and forensics capabilities.
  • Stay up to date with emerging threats , vulnerabilities, and regulatory changes.

Awareness, Training & Culture

  • Promote a strong security culture within the organization.
  • Define and implement security awareness training programs for all employees.
  • Serve as the internal advocate for security best practices.

Stakeholder Communication & Reporting

  • Report regularly to executive leadership and the Board of Directors on cybersecurity risks, incidents, and compliance status.
  • Act as the key contact for external auditors, regulators, and partners regarding information security matters.
Vos compétences

Education

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field.
  • Relevant certifications preferred: CISSP, CISM, CISA, ISO 27001, SANS/GIAC .

Experience

  • 10+ years in information security.
  • Proven experience in security governance, risk management , and regulatory compliance (e.g., ISO 27001, GDPR, NIS2).
  • Strong background in IT infrastructure.

Skills

  • Deep knowledge of threat landscapes, incident response, mitigation strategies .
  • Familiarity with security frameworks: ISO 27001, NIST, CIS Controls, OWASP .
  • Capable of leading security audits, penetration tests, BCP/DRP , and compliance assessments.
  • Understanding of legal and regulatory cybersecurity issues .

Soft Skills & Leadership

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communicator, able to engage both technical teams and executive leadership.
  • Strategic thinker, able to align security vision with business goals .
  • Analytical mindset, crisis management, and prioritization skills.

Languages

  • Professional English (spoken and written) required for international communication.
